Information about all of the educational programs in which Australia Post participates.
Australia Post is committed to providing high-quality, professionally produced educational resources for Australian schools. We offer a growing number of letter writing programs to assist teachers in educating students about writing letters with a purpose.
In this section, you will find information about practical letter writing opportunities and programs offered and/or sponsored by Australia Post, as well as information about our community partners.
Our post – what's it all about?
The Australia Post education website, "Our post – what's it all about?" contains new and
exciting education opportunities for lower primary, primary and middle years students.
The teacher and student sections are divided into "Postie Kate and friends", designed for
lower primary teachers and students and "Our post – what's it all about?" designed for
middle to upper primary (and middle years) teachers and students. Teachers will find
curriculum-linked lesson ideas and student activity sheets in a selection of PDF, HTML
and SMART Notebook formats, as well as IWB-compatible multimedia fun for students.
Students will find out all about Australia Post – its history, mail processing and
delivery, postie safety, and technology and the future – as well as be able to enjoy
games, quizzes, animations and more.
Letter Link: Let's write a letter
An innovative letter writing program designed to help students to write both personal
and business letters. It includes interesting facts about the history of communication
and letter writing, a letter writing interactive and some multimedia fun.
Use this site to engage your students in letter writing, learn about the history of
communication and letter writing, and have fun with various types of letters.
Letter Link: AFL
"Letter Link: AFL" encourages primary school children from all backgrounds and cultures
to connect with their local communities through Australian Football. Several Australian
Football League (AFL) players have been chosen as Multicultural Ambassadors and students
can write to any of these players (or any other AFL player or club). Teachers will find
curriculum support material to help them incorporate the themes of cultural diversity,
Australian Football and letter writing into their classrooms.
Stamps and collectables
This program provides fantastic facts about stamps and their history, along with
interesting information on past and present Australia Post stamp releases,
how stamps are produced, and how to start a stamp collection. Students can view
stamp issues and coin releases and have fun with videos and games. Teachers are
provided with curriculum support material and information and links to stamp
collecting events and websites.
